SCANPOL® 55

Product description

FOR THE TREATMENT OF WASTEWATERS FROM METAL FINISHING POWDER PAINTING AND PCB INDUSTRIES

SCANPOL® 55 FLOCCULATION AGENT has been tested especially for use in conjunction with SCANPOL PRECIPITATION AGENTS during the treatment of spent rinse water, half concentrates and concentrates from metal finishing, powder painting and PCB industries.

SCANPOL® 55 FLOCCULATION AGENT quickly forms stable flocks of precipitated contamination’s and metals which settle very rapidly and are easy to separate. The most suitable way to control the addition is in proportion to the flow in a through flow plant and by timer in a batch treatment plant.

PROPERTIES

Composition: Copolymer of acrylamide

Description: Anionic flocculation agent

Specific gravity: 0.750

pH: 6 in a 1-% solution

PREPARATION

Concentration: 0,025 – 0,05 % by weight (0,25 – 0,5 g/l).

EQUIPMENT

The dosing tank should be equipped with a stirrer. For the addition of SCANPOL® 55 it is recommended to use a dosing pump that is controlled by time or flow.

To make the preparation of the solution easier it is recommended to use an ejector. The temperature of the water used should not be above 30oC.

TREATMENT PROCEDURE

Generally:

To obtain best possible results during the treatment of process water it is recommended to add SCANPOL® 55 under rapid stirring and thereafter reduce the stirring to facilitate the formation of stable flocks.

Batch treatment:

After adjustment of the pH to 9,0 – 9,5 with sodium hydroxide 1 g/m3 = 2 l/m3 of 0,05 % SCANPOL® 55 is added. The clear decant can after sedimentation be separated and the sludge is dewatered in a filter press.

Through flow treatment:

After adjustment of the pH to 9,0 – 9,5 with sodium hydroxide 1 g/m3 = 2 l/m3 of 0,05 % SCANPOL® 55 is added in proportion to the flow and the sludge is separated in a lamella separator. The sludge is dewatered in a filter press.
